room spray

After discovering the beautiful smell in my friend’s bathroom, I became a fan of homemade room spray. I took her advice and now I make my own home fresheners from environmentally friendly materials. Besides, I love experiments, I like to make something useful.

And who doesn’t like to surround himself with pleasant aromas? Probably the only one who doesn’t. Scents are a very important part of my life, because I just like it when it smells good around me. I offer 4 options for air fresheners. I hope you like them.

An air freshener works the same way as a store freshener, that is, it eliminates unpleasant odors and scents the room. At the same time the smell is more natural, because it does not use artificial fragrances, but essential oils. In the pharmacy such oils cost mere pennies – a lot of options up to 100 rubles. One 5 ml vial is enough to make 8-9 fresheners. You can choose the fragrance you like or mix a few oils at once.

What we will need to make

To do this you will need:

  • a glass of water;
  • half a teaspoon of baking soda;
  • essential oil;
  • A spray bottle (any spray can do, for example, from an old freshener or window cleaner).

First, pour the baking soda and a dozen drops of oil into the bottle. The more oil, the stronger the smell. Then pour water into the bottle. If the atomizer has a plug, turn off the atomizer. Shake the bottle to mix everything well. The freshener is ready!

Scented Diffuser

Such a diffuser will not only scent the room, but also decorate it. For this option, a bottle from under your favorite perfume will work great. Thus, you will give a second life to your favorite thing. The more so, since the bottles themselves, in which spirits are poured, are real works of art.

For its preparation we need:

  • A perfume bottle, for example, but you can also use a small vase or other pretty vessel;
  • wooden chopsticks;
  • A teaspoon of vodka or other alcohol (helps the aroma to penetrate the sticks);
  • A teaspoon of baking soda;
  • essential oil;
  • water.

Add a teaspoon of baking soda and alcohol and a dozen drops of fragrance oil to the bottle. Pour the water. Put the sticks in, stir and you’re done!

Gel air freshener

My latest discovery. It took me a long time to set up to make it happen. The homemade equivalent of gel air fresheners. The idea always seemed good to me, but the implementation in the form of store fresheners left much to be desired: then the smell is too unpleasant chemical, then this smell is almost absent. I had to take matters into my own hands.

We need:

  • a glass (jar, cup);
  • hydrogel balls for watering plants or gelatin;
  • essential oils;
  • Decorations are an option, but it’s worth thinking about whether we want to decorate our air freshener in some way.

I used hydrogel flower balls – it made the process of creating the fragrance take very little time at all. Some craftsmen use food gelatin for such fresheners. But I do not want to bother so much – I prefer express versions.

Dipping the balls in a glass, pour water and add fragrance oil. Stir and leave to swell. Done!

If you choose gelatin, you must also prepare it according to the instructions on the package and put it in a vessel. Then pour in the liquid, add the essential oil and stir.

The freshener can be colored by adding a few drops of food coloring. It can also be decorated with artificial flowers.

Such a fragrance can stand up to 3 months.
